I am a person who believes that when it comes to government, smaller is better. The same is true for taxes. Every time I come across a thread in a forum or in comments to an online article that discusses reduction in government and taxes there are invariably a swarm of folks who say, but what will happen if we reduce government and taxes? Who will build and maintain the roads, who will provide the police, who will pick up the garbage, etc? etc? etc?
To all of those worriers, I say, This is what will happen
In case the above link has expired or no longer works, it was to an AP article describing how local neighborhoods were rising to the occasion and providing essential services in the void that was left with the collapse of the Detroit MI city government.
I like to think of it as Spontaneous Civilization.
